Here's a picture of several takes on the theme of 'Fairy Queen.' It's a topic I keep coming back to, probably because it offers so many possibilities.
These Queens are Ozma (from the Oz books), the Childlike Empress (from the Neverending Story), Titania (Midsummer Night's Dream), Mab (various poetry), and (in back) Gloriana from Edmund Spencer's Faery Queene. I can't tell whether they are all aspects of the same person, or truly discrete entities. Perhaps the question doesn't even apply. Partially inspired by *Heterodyning's Oz key, but also an idea that's been kicking around in my head for a while. |
